Key Takeaways for Students Completing the GA Futures Dual Enrollment Funding Application
Required Information for Ga Futures Funding Application
· Social Security Number (SSN) is required to submit the Dual Enrollment funding application in GA Futures.
· Students must answer the U.S. citizenship question in the GA Futures portal.
· Students must answer the Georgia residency questions in the Dual Enrollment (DE) funding application.
How the Application Process Works
· The citizenship and residency answers that a student provides become part of their GA Futures account and the state database.
· After the student completes their section, the high school completes theirs.
· The application is then sent to the college (Post-Secondary Institution / PSI) to determine final eligibility.
o Important: The college, not the high school, makes the final decision on funding eligibility.
Students Without a Social Security Number
· Students without a SSN cannot complete the GA Futures funding application.
· They may still participate in Dual Enrollment but must self-pay for courses.
o Tuition, fees, and book costs are determined by each individual college.
o Colleges are still finalizing these details; an update will be shared once available.
· Self-paying students must:
o Complete the SELF-PAY form in the Fulton County Dual Enrollment Contract (Assignment 1, pages 7–8 in the 26–27 DE Canvas course).
o Complete any required self-pay form from the college as well.
Citizenship Eligibility
Eligible non-citizens for funding include ONLY:
· Permanent Residents with a Permanent Resident Card (I-551)
· Conditional Permanent Residents (I-551C)
· Individuals with F-1 or F-2 student visas

· Students with J-1 or J-2 exchange visitor visas
· Students with G-series visas
· Students with any type of work visa (including J, F, and H visa holders for funding purposes)
Residency Requirement
· Students must live in Georgia to be eligible.
o Having a parent who works in Georgia is not enough if the family lives out of state.
Important Dates
· These rules begin in Summer 2026.
· Any Spring 2026 DE student who has not been funded must have that resolved by February 25, 2026.
o High schools have already submitted spring funding, but students should confirm with their college.
· The 2026–2027 funding application opens at the close of business on February 26, 2026.
o Students must have an SSN in their GA Futures profile before they can proceed.
